Series of lectures Soviet Moscow in english starts 29 May at 15.00 at VDNH's lectorium (behind the pavillion №62) with the lecture «Brick and stucco dreams for the Man of Steel. Stalinist architecture in Moscow»

Leading the country into the bright future of Communism, Stalin planned to build his own sacred capital full of palaces and ideological temples. At the same time many social issues of housing, education healthcare, water and transportation had to be solved urgently. 
 

Dr Olga Zinovieva

A professor of urban semiotics and symbolism at Lomonosov Moscow State University. She has published several books on Moscow urban communications and symbolism of the XX century with her own photos. Zinovieva often gives public talks in Russia and abroad.

Кандидат культурологии, доцент кафедры семиотики и общей теории искусства МГУ. Автор статей об урбанистической символике, курсов по истории Москвы, урбанистического пиара, семиотики архитектуры и городской среды для российских и зарубежных вузов, а также книг «Символы сталинской Москвы» и «Назад в светлое будущее. Ансамбль ВСХВ-ВДНХ-ВВЦ».
